Rich hot chocolate

This decadent hot chocolate serves one grown up person or two little people.
Great winter warmer and comfort food.

This is my own recipe after some experimenting with quantities and methods. It's quite rich but I like it that way!

50 mls pure cream
Pinch each of cinnamon and nutmeg
50 gms good quality dark chocolate
25 gms good quality milk chocolate
250 mls milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon grated dark chocolate

What to do with the ingredients
Whip the cream until it's thick and gently spoon it into the centre of the bottom of a bowl or mug. Sprinkle the nutmeg and cinnamon over the cream.

Roughly chop the dark and milk chocolate and place in a saucepan with the milk and vanilla. Place the saucepan on the stove over a low heat and stir gently until the chocolate has completely melted and combined with the milk. Allow to simmer slightly.

Remove from the stove and carefully pour around the cream in the bowl or mug. The cream will rise to the top. Sprinkle the grated chocolate over the top and sit back with a contented sigh.

Great for dipping light biscuits or pastries into!

This is quite a rich mixture. For a less rich chocolate, swap the quantities of dark and milk chocolate, or use milk and white chocolate instead. Play around until you have your perfect hot chocolate. You can also add half a teaspoon of coffee powder for a mocha flavour, cardamom, ginger or chilli powder for extra zing (or for the grown ups, a dash of your favourite liqueur!)
